I started riding motorcycles at age 15. At one point after college, a Yamaha 400 was my sole transportation vehicle. I stopped riding after I had my kids, but as soon as they went off to live their lives, I bought a used BMW R1200RT (2012). I bought this bike because I wanted to ride with other riders and the club rule was you had to own a BMW.  I’m so glad I did. For the last several years, I’ve been riding this incredible machine on amazing rodes throughout the surrounding counties (SB, SLO, Kern, Ventura, LA -Malibu Hills) with different members of the Club. These club members know every back road and funky restuarant around. My bike is an amazing sport cruiser. My longest ride was to Colorado with a few other club members. Great experience. I’m planning a western states tour (8) this summer, 2023 which will get me to the National Rally in Redmond, Oregon.

I’m retired but actively involved with my Sunrise Rotary Club as well as a SB Mesa non-profit org. I worked as an academic counselor/faculty at SBCC for 30 yrs and have traveled around the world visiting over 60 countries- mostly by ship (Semester at Sea). I’m an avid surfer, enjoy playing guitar, reading historical fiction and working on my garden. My wife and I have been together for over 40 yrs and still get along but she no longer rides pinon- maybe someday but until then the SB BMW Riders club will continue to get me out on the road!
